Frequently asked questions
Short answers to what owners ask before and after signing up.
Does it work without an internet connection?
Yes, for the things officers do constantly: clocking in and out, status changes, checkpoint scans and activity notes. Those save on the phone and upload when signal returns, keeping the time they actually happened. Writing incident reports needs a connection because of the photographs.
Do you track officers when they are off duty?
No. Location is collected only between clock-in and clock-out, and this is not configurable by us or by you.
What do my clients see?
Coverage hours, patrol reports and activity logs for their own sites, plus any incidents you choose to share. They never see officer locations and never see another client's information.
Can I edit a report after it has been approved?
No, and that is deliberate. An accepted report is the record your company stands behind. If something is wrong, add a new document referring to the original.
What happens if an officer loses their phone?
Mark them inactive in Admin, which signs them out everywhere immediately. Anything already uploaded is safe on the server. Anything still waiting on that phone is lost, which in practice means at most the last few minutes of a shift.
Do we need special hardware?
No. Officers use their own phones or ones you supply, on iPhone or Android. The only physical items are printed QR checkpoints, which you can print yourself.
Can officers use their own phones?
Yes, and most do. Because location is collected only on shift, officers are generally comfortable with it. If two officers share a device, each sign-in is separate and tracking follows whoever is actually clocked in.
How long does setup take?
About half an hour to add sites, officers and checkpoints. Getting officers to actually use it takes a shift or two.
Can we try it before committing?
Yes. Everything is month to month and you can cancel any time. Email hello@apeironcad.com and we will set you up.
