An officer's first shift

Clocking in

Open the app and clock in. This starts the shift and is the switch that turns everything else on. Until an officer clocks in, the app is not tracking anything.

The first time, the app explains what location information is shared and asks permission before the phone's own permission prompt appears.

Setting a status

The Status tab has seven: Available, On Post, On Patrol, En Route, On Scene, Break, and Unavailable. One tap changes it, and dispatch sees the change straight away.

Statuses are not paperwork. They are how the office knows who can take the next call without having to ring round.

Walking a tour

On the Patrol tab, scan each checkpoint as you reach it. If the phone has no signal, scan anyway. It saves and uploads later with the correct time on it.

Logging what happened

The Log tab is for short notes through the shift: gate secured, spoke to a resident about noise, light out on level 3. These become the daily activity report, so an officer who logs as they go has no paperwork left at the end.

If something happens

Incidents assigned by dispatch appear on the Incidents tab. An officer can also open one themselves for something they walked up on.

Anything significant needs a written report afterwards, on the Reports tab.

The panic button

Hold the panic button and an alert reaches dispatch immediately with the officer's location. There is no confirmation step and no form to fill in.

It makes no sound on the officer's phone, deliberately, so it can be used while hiding from someone.

Clocking out

Clock out at the end of the shift. Location sharing stops at that moment. The shift's scans and notes become a daily activity report.
